Our Branches of Service Impressions

The Historical Aviation Society represents many different eras of history, including World War II (primary focus), the Korean War, Vietnam War, & many events in between. Below are the primary impressions we educate about at World War II events.

Tuskegee Airmen

The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African American military pilots and airmen who fought in World War II. They formed the 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group of the United States Army Air Forces.

U.S. Army Air Corps

The United States Army Air Corps was the aerial warfare service component of the United States Army between 1926 and 1946, primarily during World War II. (Changed to the U.S. Army Air Forces in 1942)

WASP

The Women Airforce Service Pilots was a civilian women pilots’ organization, whose members became trained pilots who flew and tested aircraft, ferried aircraft, and trained other additional pilots primarily during World War II.

U.S. Army Nurse Corps

The first nurses and first women were appointed to the United States Nurse Corps by the military on 2 February 1901. Upon entering World War II fewer than 7,000 nurses were on active duty. By 1945, more than 57,000 Army nurses were active.
